Jennifer Williams-Bowman
Always involved in music and dance with her family and church, Jennifer's musical journey geared up to full speed ahead when she began studying classical violin at age 14. Now several years later, she is performing regularly at the Baddeck Gathering Ceilidh and throughout Cape Breton for concerts and dances.
While attending high school in her hometown of Kansas City, Missouri, Jennifer heard Cape Breton fiddling for the first time and it captivated her. Her pursuit of its driving style brought her first to Cape Breton Island, then to the University of Toronto where she earned a degree in Celtic Studies.
Adventures in Ireland and Scotland broadened her understanding and skill. Along the way, her enthusiasm for Gaelic culture led her to embrace Irish traditional music, Cape Breton stepdancing and piano style, as well as Irish and Scottish Gaelic.
Having performed in North America and Scotland, life's journey has now landed her quite inevitably back in Nova Scotia where she has recently become a mother and enjoys an active family life while continuing to pursue her passion for music and dance.
